You know when you start to realise that you’re getting ‘IT old’ when you didn’t realise that there is a site called youporn out there…. (p.s http://www.youporn.com)…. fark me…
Now as a general rule, i’ve always regarded myself as being pretty IT savvy. I keep up with the latest trends, I had an MP3 player (actually I owned a total of 3!) before the iPod was ever released, i’ve had all the new game machines, mobile phones, gadgets and toys ….
But in the last 2 years as my role as become more senior and my PM training has started to evolve into actual skills vs sheer determination not to fail and therefore i’ll ensure that my project is delivered dammit(!) i’ve realised that more and more i’m starting to become a bit of an IT n00b…. and worst of all, I actually don’t mind….
- I don’t have the latest and greatest PC. In fact my Mac (dearly loved) is the same machine i’ve owned since I moved to Sydney, that makes it almost 4 years old(!) …
- I don’t use VoIP (and when I did go to use it, I decided it’s easier just to pay the money and use my mobile, even after I bought the flashy, ADSL2 compliant, multi-VoIP port, cooks you breakfast modem)
- I don’t have a huge download limit on my ADSL2 account (even though I have ridiculously fast speeds)
- I haven’t done all those things I promised with this god-awful site, heck I barely manage to post all that often…
————-
Between not realising that ‘wang’ is the funniest word in the world, wanting to spend more time having breakfast and ‘talking’ to my friends (no Eve, not ‘at’ my friends, to them!), I just moved-to-fucking-QLD so I could spend time with my nephew, FUCK ME I own a house now (how the *fuck* did that happen), and i’m largely becoming quite responsible…
To make things worse:
- I’m going on an overseas holiday; (that actually takes commitment and planning);
- I regularly exercise and have sports-related activities in my life;
- I enjoy the company of my friends;
- I like good food;
Now whilst I suspect i’ll always have a slightly rebellious streak (tongue piercing, that’s pretty cool since none of the senior managers have seen it, and now i’m getting even more kickass work to do), tattoos, motorbike…
I now realise, i’m actually become quite the codger……. and worse still, i’m really starting to enjoy it…..

Oh young padowan, there is so much I can teach you. What with being mid 20’s still
(I have to admit you did get middle aged and respectable quite quickly - but you have been having a quarter life crisis since I met you, which mind you was 5+ years ago (!!!) so it’s not completely unexpected)

Ah Lucy, you just made almost the exact comment I was going to write… Oh well, just proves how right we are doesn’t it? Ad you’re nearly 30, it’s just all down hill from there isn’t it??? (Not that I’d know of course, being still in the mid 20’s thing myself… hehe :P)

Let’s not get too excited, i’ve still decided to pierce my tongue, get a tattoo and buy a hugely wanky motorcycle.
Or is this just further proof that i’m starting to slide…
Crap……
Dammit, i’m going home to download some PornTube material!

Oh what’s that term???? Hmmmm, mid-life something-or-rather??? Oh crisis, that’s it… mid-life crisis. Seems you’ve hit your’s a little early though. Remember I’ve got a tattoo as well and I pay for the rego on a motorbike… and all this before I’m 30! Oh my goodness.
