So there we were….
This is the two sides of my life….
One side is saying that hosting a party should involve no food whatsoever (gets in way of the drinking he says!)
The other is telling me to cook, bake and generally whip up a culinary feast for my guests.
I bought CC’s and a tub of viva-la-corn-chips-express dip …..
It’s the simple things that work for me folks, and there’s just never enough time.
After saying the perfunctory well wishes to all the staff at work (poor people at work on NYE), I went home to prepare.
1. Place chips in bowl
2. Leave dip in fridge until patrons arrive
3. Clean up
4. Hide inappropriate material from prying eyes
(as a side note, my NY resolution is to write the definitive work on how to prepare for a party, Bundaberg style….. I’m thinking it won’t quite be the War and Peace of dining)
The pre-going-out party went well. We drank and we were merry. Some highlights:
- J did an amazing rendition of Garth Brooks whilst gyrating (rather seductively) on one of my females guests’ lap
- He also covered himself in so much gold and silver glitter as to make him appear like a human disco ball
- Then the rest of us were dished out the same treatment….
- I now have a gold and silver floor….
- C turned into unofficial DJ…. she also drove us mad by not playing more than 1 minutes worth of any song (though all her choices were fantastic I will say)
Onto the ‘Met’ropolitan hotel for the latter part of the evenin .
A few hiccups at the club itself (sorry folks, too many people from work who read this.. one day), but I was now somehow decked out in a Ley and Sombrero, so they became the conversation starter when interacting.
- M got me up and dancing, club-style until the early early hours of the morning (thanks babe!)
- I got to see the changeover to 2004 with two of my favourite ladies
- I wasn’t sick, in fact I didn’t really drink to excess at all
- I got to sleep with the same aformentioned ladies on New Years Day*
The only thing I regret is not having the camera with me (I found out that dropping it from 4 feet up can cause it to break), but concurrently I didn’t spend half the night behind the lens and just enjoyed it for what it was.
All in all, extremely worthwhile for the drive up and back.
